Mark P. Leone

Mark P. Leone is a leading scholar in the field of historical archaeology. Leone co-authored Conjuring in the Big House Kitchen with Gladys-Marie Fry, an insightful article detailing the prevalence and distribution of hoodoo in the archaeological record. He has directed Archaeology in Annapolis since 1981 and under his direction the many discoveries made in the city have been opened to the public.

Dr. Leone is a professor of anthropology at the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland, where he runs a popular field school in Annapolis for undergraduate and graduate students.
