Since its establishment in 1967, the Anacostia Community Museum has been a cultural anchor in the community. Our new urban issues-focused mission expands the museum's community-inclusive approach to museology, broadening our perspective and demonstrating that local issues resonate with urban communities wherever they are. It also requires that we provide wider access to our research and collections, and that we continue to engage our local constituents while attracting new audiences to our exhibitions and programs. Anacostia Community Museum continues to be a trailblazer in its approach to community engagement and in recognizing its role in preserving and showcasing those things that define community on many levels.

Most people don't realize that donations from individuals like you comprise the single largest source of the museum's contributed income. With declining federal funds providing only one-third of our budget, we rely on the Friends of ACM for support to fund our acclaimed exhibitions, inspiring educational programming, innovative collections and archives, and family workshops and outreach programs, all free to the public 364 days a year! Your support will enable the Anacostia Community Museum to share their collections and programs with thousands of visitors from around the world each year.
By joining the Friends of the Anacostia Community Museum, you receive special "insider" access to the museums; invitations to special VIP events, and much, much more! Your acknowledgement letter will clarify the amount of your contribution's tax deductibility. This amount is determined in accordance with Internal Revenue Service regulations.
