Gail Sylvia Lowe is the Anacostia Museum's historian. She serves as the museum's specialist on African American religious and spiritual traditions. Dr. Lowe, a native of Washington, D.C., is co-author of A Different Drummer: John Kinard and the Anacostia Museum 1967-1989. She has served as curator for several exhibitions, including the groundbreaking Speak to My Heart: Communities of Faith and Contemporary African American Life and Banding Together: School Bands as Instruments of Opportunity. She has presented papers at a variety of scholarly and professional conferences and is a member of the D. C. Historic Preservation Review Board. |
