Scope and Contents
Reverend Anthony Motley spoke about his work in the community, particularly his ministry among the youth; and growing up in southeast Washington, D.C. He spoke in detail about some his initiatives including 'RIGHT, Inc.' to provide housing to women and children affected by HIV/AIDS; 'Inner Thoughts, Inc.' to provide youth educational opportunities during the summer; 'The Economics of Violence' to research the economic impact of violence on the community; 'Redemption Ministry' to address the concerns of young people who did not attend church; workforce development programs at Cardozo High School; and a land trust to provide affordable housing opportunities. Motley also explained his ideas for development based on what the community needs as decided by the community, and the necessity of community participation in development.
