- Esmond Patterson hosts the number-one rated Sunday morning gospel show on WAOK Radio in Atlanta, Georgia. The legendary Esmond Patterson has been with WAOK since 1963 and is both an announcer and a salesman. He began his radio career at WERD, the first black radio station in the nation. Brother Patterson was the recipient of the Diamond Award for AM Personality of the year in 1988 and is currently a nominee for a spot in the Emerson Radio Hall of Fame along with Dick Clark, Casey Kasem and Wolfman Jack.
