- First Baptist Church is the oldest Baptist church in the city of Norfolk, Virginia. Considered the mother church of Norfolk's black Baptists, First Baptist's congregation was organized in 1800 and originally consisted of whites, free blacks, and slaves. The church's current location was acquired in 1830 and its current building was dedicated in 1906.
