- Mr. Carter is a seventh generation descendant of Jacob Moore. Mr. Moore was an African-American entrepreneur who participated in the construction of Barry Farm. He also founded a cemetery in southeast Washington, D.C. After the Civil War it was one of the largest and oldest African American cemeteries in America. Listen to Mr. Carter tell the story of his ancestor and how it impacted his own feelings of pride in his community.
