This 3-part photography exhibition examines the meaning and impact of immigration in the United States.
- A Nation of Strangers: 204 photographs focus on immigration as a defining American issue.
- Reframing America: This section explores the effect of 7 European photographers on American photography. Photographers represented include Alexander Alland, Otto Hagel, Hansel Mieth, John Gutmann, Lisette Model, Marion Palfi, and Robert Frank.
- Tracing Cultures: Works by 12 artists of varying cultural backgrounds explore what it means to be an American. Artists include Albert Chong, Lewis DeSoto, I.T.O., Young Kim, Komar and Melamid, Dinh Q. Le, Gavin Lee, Maria Martinez-Canas, Ruben Ortiz-Torres, Carrie Mae Weems, and Kim Yasuda.
