- Caption
- This ball-point pen commemorates the Million Man March, which took place October 16, 1995 in Washington, DC. Accented by black tips, a kente cloth-like design wraps around the yellow pen’s barrel. Black lettering printed on the barrel reads, “The Price of Greatness Is Responsibility / Million Man March,” in addition to noting the March’s date and location.
- Controversial due to its co-organizer, Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, the Million Man March promoted African American unity, especially among African American men, and approached the number in its name, becoming one of the largest gatherings in American history at the time.
