- Caption
- Royal Typewriters were known for their durability, and this portable gray Quiet De Luxe model belonged to professional photographer Frank R. Jackson who co-owned the studio Turner-Jackson Photography at 1934 11th Street, N.W. While his photographs provided visual documentation of community life in Washington, DC, the typewriter produced a written archive. Jackson may have used it to run his local business, or to construct crossword puzzles for the Washington Post, a job he held for over twenty-five years.
