- This flag commemorated the groundbreaking ceremony of the Green Line Metro on September 21, 1985. It celebrated the beginning of a new connection between Anacostia and the wider Washington, D.C. area, bringing the population on either side of the river closer together. The station was a result of the community’s tireless activism, as local residents affirmed their agency in and access to a changing urban environment.
