- This round pinback button commemorates the International Women's Day March that took place in Lexington, KY, in 1987. The pin features a drawing of a prison cell window resembling the American flag, from where a hand sticks out waving a flag of Puerto Rico. The drawing is inscribed inside a female gender symbol. Red lettering reads "Shut Down Control Units!". At the time of the march, Puerto Rican political activist Alejandrina Torres was incarcerated in the Lexington High Security Unit.
- The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
