Caption
This round pinback button advocated for the liberation of death row inmate Johnny Imani Harris in Alabama, GA. The campaign was promoted by the National Alliance Against Racist & Political Repression. The pin features a black and white photographic portrait of Imani at the center, with black lettering around the rim. Imani was eventually proven wrongfully convicted and had his death sentence overturned in 1987.
The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
