- This round pinback button supporting the Democratic Party commemorates Jesse Jackson's "Keep Hope Alive" speech, delivered at the party's National Convention in 1988. The pin features a black and white photographic portrait of five smiling boys. Above them, yellow lettering reads "Keep Hope Alive!", and below, in red against a yellow background, "Register – Vote for the Democrats". At the bottom, Jesse Jackson's signature is almost illegible.
- The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
