Caption
This square pinback button advocates for universal health care access. The pin features white lettering against a black background reading "It's the insurance companies, stupid!". The expression, blaming insurance companies for the high cost of medical coverage, is a wordplay on a popular slogan from Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign: "It's the economy, stupid!".
The button is among more than 200 collected by Washington, DC-based environmental justice advocate Vernice Miller-Travis.
