Caption
This round pinback button advocated for the approval of Initiative 10 calling for a freeze on nuclear arms production. The pin features black lettering against a yellow background, with the number 10 printed in red at the center. The number “0” in 10 is depicted as a red prohibition sign overlaid on a black bomb facing downwards. The resolution, promoted by the DC Campaign for a Nuclear Weapons Freeze group, was included on the ballot for the November 2, 1982 general election. It was approved in the District of Columbia and other states.
The button is among more than 200 collected by longtime Anacostia resident and social justice advocate Howard Croft.
