A Celebration of Earth Day

Join the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum on Saturday April 20th as we Honor and Celebrate our Earth! Meet community partners, enjoy family friendly maker activities, and explore our latest exhibition "A Bold and Beautiful Vision".  Let us know you're joining us!

Confirmed partners include:

  • National Park Service: National Capital Parks- East will be leading historical based walking tours of Fort Stanton (directly across from the museum!). 
  • FreshFarm Markets who will be bringing back the youth cooking and tasting activity, as well as featuring a composting demonstration and helping you plant your own seedling to take home*
  • Casey Trees where you can learn more about the importance of D.C.'s tree canopy
  • Chalk Riot will be returning with a new Earth Day chalk mural for the perfect photo op, plus they will be creating a coloring book walk-way, which will need your help coming to life!
  • Grounded Plant Shop will be onsite to teach about plant care and will be giving away house plants for visitors to take home.*
  • Bloom Soil will be joining us again this year to give away their soil to help you get your garden going for this planting season. 
  • Slow Food DC where you can learn more about celebrating local, seasonal, sustainable food sources.
  • SWAP DC will be onsite to help you trade up your textiles. Just bring no more than 5 pieces with you to trade during the event.

Plus, check out the inaugural weekend of the 2024 FRESHFARM ACM Farm Stand, the only direct-to-consumer farm stand of its kind East of the River in Ward 8.

This indoor/outdoor event takes place from 10am-5pm at the Anacostia Community Museum. Stay tuned for more updated activities and partners. Registration recommended.
