Reflections: Life Pieces to Masterpieces

November 13, 2005 – April 2, 2006

This exhibition features 27 pieces created by 75 at-risk, east-of-the Anacostia River youths aged 3-21 enrolled in the award-winning human development program known as Life Pieces to Masterpieces. Founded in 1996 by Washington artist Larry B. Quick, the group takes its name from the unique style of art its members collectively create—painting canvas, cutting it into various shapes, and sewing the pieces together to tell real-life stories from their homes and communities. Their work has been honored by numerous organizations, including WETA and NBC's Today Show.
