Many of Nelson's works can be found in the private collections of celebrities, including Denzel Washington, Jalen Rose, and Queen Latifah. His paintings have decorated the sets of television and film, including The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Set It Off. Most notably, Nelson was the conceptual artist for Steven Spielberg's film Amistad and the animated feature Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
