At the Museum

The Anacostia Community Museum will be closed from January 8, 2024-March 22, 2024. We will reopen on Saturday, March 23, 2024 with our next exhibition, A Bold and Beautiful Vision: A Century of Black Arts Education in Washington, DC,1900-2000. We hope you will join us! 

Located in the Anacostia neighborhood, the Anacostia Community Museum examines, documents, and interprets the impact of historical and contemporary social issues on urban communities.

Dynamic rotating exhibitions explore various aspects of urban community life, including modernization, cultural encounters, environmental change, gentrification, employment, and globalization.

Maps and Directions

The museum is easily accessible from metropolitan Washington, DC, and is located in southeast Washington approximately 5 miles from the National Mall. Free on-site parking is available.
